Custer State Park Wildlife Loop Drive

 Sunday 13th August 2023

Continuing on from our visit to Mount Rushmore that morning we returned to Custer State Park to drive the 18 mile Wildlife Loop. This is the only loop we could drive Dave the Truck on as the other loops, which sounded cool, have tunnels that are too small for Dave's big hips.

We saw some more bison, prairie dogs and donkeys and visited the Bison Display. Did not like that as they describe rounding up the bison each year and some will get sold for meat or to other farms to start their herds. It is described as being necessary to control numbers so the area does not get over grazed.

There are campsites in Custer State Park which get booked up to a year in advance, I would love to camp there in the future with a smaller rv.

This donkey was a character, stood in the middle of the road blocking traffic so his friends could get fed

Got any carrots?
