Horseshoe Bend National Military Park, Alabama.

Friday 9th December 2022

We visited our first National Park, Horseshoe Bend National Military Park. There was a visitor center with very informative museum style displays telling you about the history of the area. Very basically in 1814 Andrew Jackson defeated the Red Sticks. I will let you Google and read about it.

The National Park Service has a passport, a book with sections for each park in the country. Each time you visit one you stamp your book with a date stamp found in the visitors center. For John's 60th birthday in July I got him a special collectors edition of this book which we took to the park and he got his first stamp!

We walked the 3.5 mile trail around the park following historic markers and sat on the side of the Tallapoosa River for a picnic.
