Bay Point Landing, Coos Bay Oregon

 Saturday 2nd December 2023

We packed up and drove 209 miles to Coos Bay which is half  way down the Oregon Coast. The drive would have been very pretty but the weather was yukky with a lot of rain mist and dark.

I had trouble finding a place to stay in the area as the State Parks were not an option so we splurged and stayed at a resort. Normally when I am researching stops I avoid private parks whenever possible and especially ones that have "resort" in  the title as that normally adds dollars to the price for facilities we are not interested in or will use such as tennis courts but with no other decent options I booked  it. https://baypointlanding.com/

Bay Point Landing is set on a bay/inlet so our rv site was a stones throw from the sea but with it being an inlet we did not have the big waves though we still enjoyed the tides.

The resort was very quiet with it being December and awful weather. We had paid extra for a bayside site and we did not have close neighbors our whole stay. We thought it was strange everyone else was parked at the back of the park with no water views. The first night of high winds and the rv rocking and rolling we realized that apart from saving money they were out of the wind!

The resort main buildings were very trendy and housed a heated salt water pool, gym, a games room, a social meeting room that had tea and coffee each morning, the office with a few grocery items and a small tv room designed for kids to hang out in.

We got into a routine of going to the pool to swim a few laps when John finished work for the day. With the bad weather and dark nights we are not able to do very much around dinner time so this was a very nice treat and with the park being so quiet we usually had the pool to ourselves.

Great laundry area in the shower building

The park also had ten Airstream rvs permanently set up as places to rent which would be a fun experience and a good way to see if you would like rv life. There were also lodges that looked very nice, much nicer than lodges we have seen in other parks that look like glorified garden sheds. A lot of the lodges were orientated with bay views and would have been a nice weekend stay for a couple.

This was one of the small lodges set at the back of the park, cute but not as nice as the others

At the other end of the park was a pavilion. A big  barn type space that had sofas, a fire and lots of big tables. One side of the building had big sliding doors that would open up the space. It would be awesome for family parties or a small wedding. Your guests could stay in the lodges and Airstreams.

They also had a food truck but that was closed for the season. All the areas were very well looked after. There was even dog wash area!
