John's batteries were low and he did not fancy hiking so we drove to California which was only seven miles away. There was a great visitor center on the Oregon side where we picked up leaflets with ideas of places to go then we drove across the State line into California. We had to go through a check point where they ask if you have any fruits, vegetables, or live animals. We drove a few miles into the state but there weren't any towns near so we turned around and drove back to Brookings which was the town next to our State park.

John had a few 6am starts but he would finish around 4pm so we would squeeze in a beach walk before it got dark.

John had a day off, it was meant to be ten days off but with work changes he was too busy to take them. We drove along the Samuel H Boardman Scenic Corridor which is a twelve mile section of the coastline that has hikes and parking areas, some with picnic tables and toilets.

We began at Whaleshead Beach and thought we could have a walk along the beach but the run off streams were so big we could not so we took a few pictures then hiked through the pine forest that had a lot of climbing and rugged terrain.

We returned to the scenic corridor with the intention of doing a lot more hiking but after one short hike and our legs aching after yesterdays hikes we decided we had had enough of hills and drove to Brookings and did an All Trails walk around the harbor area. It was listed as three miles though I think we did more but stopping half way for some chips helped! This was the first time we have sat at the sea eating some chips in a long time.
