Aspen, Basalt and Glenwood Springs

 21st July 2023

John took a day off and we headed to Aspen. As it took an hour and a half each way we took Morgan with us. It was another beautiful drive and we saw mountains with the ski areas.

Aspen is a lot smaller than you would think, the main shopping and restaurant area is only about 4 or 5 blocks with all the designer stores you would find in New York or Paris. Nope I didn't shop. We got a tasty muffin and coffee at paradise Bakery and sat on a bench on one of the paved pedestrian streets and people watched.

Lots of private airplanes

Ski lifts begin at the edge of the town

We then stopped at Basalt. It was a small town but nice to walk around for a bit.

Cool carving on top of the tree

We then drove into the town of Glenwood Springs. It was getting late at this point and we were hot and tired so had a small walk around enjoyed a non alcoholic beer at a downtown brew pub then picked up some take out food.
There is a lot to do in the town including a large outdoor spring fed swimming pool, next time we are in the area I would like to stop and see more.

It's very green as all the farmers have hoses continually watering the grass for the Winter feed for the cattle. We did not see any crops, just grass. This is why the beef industry is not good for the world.
