Five miles from Rifle Gap State Park is Rifle Falls State Park. We got going early on Sunday morning to visit the Falls as I had read it gets very busy and there was limited parking. We arrived just after the 8am opening and had the place to ourselves. We took Morgan with us and she enjoyed exploring the caves though she did not like the Falls. Morgan does not do water!

The Falls are very unusual, most falls are water falling from a mountain, cliffs, hill but these falls were created by limestone deposits in the river that slowly raised upwards creating cliffs and caves.
There was a great trail that looped around the Falls, caves and a pond with some great viewing spots of the Falls and the valley and mountains.

We really enjoyed walking around and were glad we once again visited somewhere early as it got busy as we were leaving after 9.15am and the parking lot was almost full.
