One Year!!!

6th November 2023

One year on the road! Wow!

How do you feel after one year?

It is great, I feel we have hardly scratched the surface (or map) even though we have traveled from one side of the country to the other. Traveling slow has given us time to enjoy the areas we have stayed and not get burnt out with packing up and moving constantly as each time we move it takes most of a day. On average we have stayed in three parks for two weeks each stop in a State and this has given us a good idea of what is there and is there more we would like to see another time.

In the future I still see us staying in one place maybe five to seven days depending on what is in the area. We will probably make shorter hops too, staying longer in each State and having shorter drives.

Yem has been great, touch wood. Apart from the hydraulic fluid pipe burst in Colorado it has held up to being towed up and down the mountains and us living in it full time. It is difficult to find spots to stay with it being forty feet long and there has been times when I wish it was shorter. When I am planning stops I see a lot of beautiful State Parks that we are unable to stay at, a lot of parks do not accommodate 40' or if they do they are already reserved. The trade off is we live in an extremely comfortable home with everything we need.

Dave the truck is going great. Driving a beast with so much power is very reassuring when you are towing Yem and driving up 10,000 feet passes. Parking him when out for the day is still a pain but we do get extra steps in when we have to park a mile away from our destination!

Raise a glass to the next year of travel, may we go to more beautiful places and travel safely.
